Harvard (Hohenstein x Cardinal) is a proven sire of excellence. Standing 16.3hh he is dark brown-black, with four white socks and a connecting star and stripe. His legacy is quickly establishing itself in Europe and North America. Harvard has produced multiple Licensed sons, numerous State Premium Mares, Elite Auction Foals, a Bundeschampion, a finalist at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses, successful International Advanced Dressage competitors including a Grand Prix Dressage horse, in 2008 he dam-sired the Champion Filly of Germany, and has sired Foals of Distinction, Champion Hanoverian Foals and large amounts of Premium Foals. A strong transmitter of type, Harvard’s are stamped with his elegant head and convey his kind, sensible disposition. Harvard modern in type, is the sire of talented dressage and hunter progeny. One of his greatest hallmarks is the wonderful temperament that he passes onto his offspring. At three years of age he successfully completed his 100 Day Stallion Performance Test at Neustadt-Dosse, Germany, scoring a perfect 10 for Temperament and straight 9's for Character, Willingness and Ability to Work, Constitution and Rideability. He scored straight 8's for his Walk, Trot and Canter and currently holds a Hanoverian breeding index of 136 with indexes of; Walk 128, Trot 133, Canter 131, Type 142, Head 150, Neck 149, and Limbs 125.

Harvard was bred in Germany by stallion producer Heinrich Laymeyer and began his sport career by being selected as a Premium stallion at his licensing in Vechta at 2.5 years old. The following year he was crowned the Hauptprämie Vice-Champion (1-B Prämie) of the 2000 Oldenburg Main Premium. There are many factors that play a role in the decision when the Verband awards the coveted Main Premiums including the stallion’s development in sport, his results at the stallion performance test and, above all, the quality of his first offspring when they are inspected. Following Harvard's successful top 5 placement at the German Bundeschampionate finals as a Four and Five Year Old with scores up to 8.2, Harvard's breeding career flourished at the renowned Hengsthaltung Kathmann in Germany. While there, he sired numerous “true to type” Elite auction foals, top quality approved stallion sons, State Premium and Verband's Premium daughters and a legacy of successful sport horses in Europe. In short, Harvard is the epitome of the upgrader type, passing on his striking good looks, wonderful character and elastic, athletic gaits.

Harvard was campaigned in Germany up to M Level (Third/Fourth Level) with fourteen 1st to 3rd placings in National competitions. He was imported to Canada in December of 2004 and continued his sport career up to Advanced Level. The exceptional tempered stallion capably balanced a career in FEI sport and the breeding shed. In his first year of competing at Prix St. George and Intermediare I, Harvard became the Advanced Provincial Dressage Champion of Ontario and culminated his season at Dressage in Devon placing 8th in the CDI PSG out of a field of 48 with a 66.92%. With his solid results under saddle Harvard was Long-Listed for the Canadian Dressage Team. With success not only limited to the dressage ring, Harvard has demonstrated natural ability over fences and has produced many high-quality offspring for the hunter ring. Harvard was also crowned the Grand Champion Stallion at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

Harvard offspring are undeniably his. They are always bay or black (he has never produced a chestnut) and normally have white highlights; his foals are “stamped” with his refined head and elegant well-set neck. He has produced over 12 Advanced Level Dressage horses including a Grand Prix dressage horse, an upper level show jumper, a driving son who went to the World Equestrian Games for the Dutch team, and multiple licensed sons. Harvard crosses extremely well with some of the hotter dressage bloodlines bringing to the table his fantastic temperament and phenomenal loose elastic walk. In Germany D, W, F and R line crosses predominate.

Harvard is sired by the 2002 Trakehner Stallion of the Year, Hohenstein (Caprimond x Matador) who was the outstanding stallion of his 1993 keuring and Reserve Champion of his stallion test with a dressage ranking of 148.29! In 1995 he was Trakehner Riding Horse Champion and third at the Federal Championships. The FN breeding values regularly list him as a top producer of dressage horses and in 1999 he was awarded the distinction of Elite Stallion due to his outstanding performance in both breeding and sport. Sire to over 13 licensed sons, multiple State Premium daughters and many Elite auction foals with record setting prices. Hohenstein’s sire, the Elite Stallion Caprimond is renowned for his transmission of type and as an excellent producer of rideable horses and often stands at the top of many breeds rankings. Unfortunately, Hohenstein's frozen semen is of questionable quality and has seriously limited his direct blood line in NA. Harvard is the only Licensed Hohenstein son by Erkend registries carrying on this valuable bloodline, offering fresh semen to the North American market!!!

Harvard’s dam Hauptstutbuch Carina, is by the famed dressage refining sire Cardinal xx. Harvard was her youngest offspring, and before him she produced the licensed Hanoverian stallion Davis Cup by Dürkheim who also competed successfully to Advanced Level in Dressage with over 180 placings in sport; the Vice-Bundeschampion of three year old Dressage horses Dakapo by Dürkheim; two States Premium Hanoverian mares Ducardi by Dürkheim and Fantastic by Feinbrand and International show jumper Top Gun by Grosso Z. Harvard's other sister Durina by Dürkheim produced the successful Advanced Level dressage mare Gyselle by Grosso Z.

Cardinal xx is celebrated for his “high nobility, large frame, light poll, ideal top line and sensational movement.” He produced many approved sons and many fine, elegant daughters. Cardinal xx is also found as dam sire to impressive stallions World of Dreams (World Cup I x Cardinal xx) and Scarlatti HES (Silvano x Cardinal xx). Harvard’s maternal line has impressively produced the stallions Algier, Leoffizier and Winnetou (all Celle state stallions), Flockentanz (Redefin State stallion), Plural (Private Stallion Hanover), Traumulus (Dillenburg State Stallion), Waidmannsheil (Private Stallion Oldenburg/Baden- Württemberg), Wendig (Private Stallion Oldenburg, Bavaria, Saxony- Anhalt), Westminster (Private Stallion Baden- Württemberg) and Westrich (Zweibrücken Stallion).

Harvard’s Stud Fee for 2017 is $2000.00 (includes a $400.00 booking fee and up to 2 collections of Fresh Semen) with a LFG. His semen is available fresh cooled and frozen. It is of excellent quality and mobility with over 500 hundred proven offspring on the ground. Having already successfully proven himself in high sport, Harvard is now dedicated solely to his breeding career and stands at Pangaea Farms. This enables us to better serve our clients and their mares with flexible and prompt collection times and service. He is activated with the German Hanoverian Verband, American Hanoverian Society, American Rhinelander Studbook and the German Oldenburg Verband for 2017. He is also licensed for breeding and has had registered offspring with the Hessian, Westphalian, Zweibrücker (RPSI), Deutsches Sportpferd, Baden-Württemberg, Saxon-Anhalt Verbands in Germany. In NA his offspring are also eligible for registration with the KWPN (Foalbook A), Canadian Warmblood Society, Canadian Sport Horse Society and the ISR/OldNA Society.
